Long Island-based artist Mangiardi began painting in 1991 after a 20-year career as a brain surgeon. His fascination with color and form began in the operating room, observing the living, breathing architecture of the human brain. Having lived through the pulse of the SoHo art scene in the era of Basquiat, Rauschenberg, and pop art, Mangiardi absorbed the ethos of expressionism, technical mastery, and bold experimentation.

He honed his craft at the Art Students League, grounding his intuitive understanding of anatomy in formal technique.
